Roxy is in a bind…
Should she stay true to herself or should she follow her wounded heart back to her first love?
Back to the one who left her heartbroken and alone.
Who will be the one to help heal her heart?
Will it be Dylan, who started as her re-bound, but has become her strength and her life line over the past few months.
Or will it be Kade, the one who stole her heart and showed her the true meaning of love. Then showed her all the despair, vulnerability and pain a broken heart can cause.
Which path will bring her to her happily ever after?
This is Even Better.. I mean, I’ve read the first book, Breaking My Heart which actually broke some fragments of my delicate heart because of the stupid things that Kade has done. Although I got angry at him in the first book, I understood his reasons for leaving Roxy.
But in Healing My Heart, I am flummoxed, perplexed & disgusted with rebound guy Dylan, because of how he treated Roxy. He was clearly a bipolar with a twisted mind reeking of jealousy & obsession. He became controlling and manipulative and almost got physical with her. He got lucky Roxy endured him for 6 months. When Roxy has had enough of his ever-changing personality, she gave him the boot but Dylan became even angrier. He vowed to destroy her and Kade, who seemed to be putting himself back together to be with Roxy again. Dylan is ready to explode, Dylan will do whatever it takes to get her back.
And there’s Kade. Kade also wants Roxy back, Kade still loves her, but can Kade heal her already broken heart?
A rollercoaster of emotions, that’s what I felt after reading this book. I liked how things went from right to wrong to worse to being right and sweet again. But for how long, I guess we’ll have to watch out for the third book in the series because I still have this giddy feeling about Roxy & Kade. Another sure-fire hit from Aleya Michelle!
Roxy is a fighter, she is strong and independent.
She knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to go after it, especially when it comes to men.
Roxy thinks she has men figured out, that is until she meets Kade. He storms into her life like a knight on a white horse to save her. He makes her question everything she ever thought she knew about life, men and herself.
With a past that keeps holding her back will Kade be able to break down her walls?
Will he be able to prove to Roxy that everything she thinks she knows about men is wrong, or will he prove her right?
Oh. My Gosh… I actually felt my heart pulsing, my mind racing & my cheeks blushing while reading this!
Aleya Michelle found a gold mine in this provocative first novel of hers. Roxy clearly got issues with men, so it’s understandable how she is with guys around her, and those she meets in bars and parties. It’s understandable how she continuously puts up a wall around her heart when men like Kade profess feelings for her. But Kade is entirely different from all the men who came into her life. A surfer guy, thoughtful, one-woman man and oozing with great personality, what’s not to like? Of course, Roxy would feel insecure, would think that there are a lot of girls falling for Kade, so she’s guarding her heart against disappointment and jealousy. But clearly, what her mind tells her to do does not agree to what her heart feels for Kade. So she gives in to her emotions and makes a life with Kade… until he eventually breaks her heart.
Ouch! I couldn’t put words to what I felt when Kade seems to drift away from Roxy. I am aghast with chock and pain. I’m not surprised if Roxy feels the same.
Roxy & Kade are the next hottest book couple to watch out for! That much is true!
P.S. I got this book courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
About ALEYA MICHELLE
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Happily married and mother of 3 gorgeous and very active boys. A true lover of reading and escaping into a book, I love to write and find solace and escape through my characters and storylines.
Favourite past times include shopping, reading, going to the beach and seeing friends. Music is another great love.
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.
This is the book that my hubby (for the very first time!) had insisted that I should read before I sleep. He said his co-worker had high praises for the story and that I would love to read this kind of drama-romance genre. I told him, I already got it on my Kindle, one week before he actually told me to buy this. And boy, was he intrigued with the book!
Hopeless is my first Colleen Hoover book. It was AMAZING! I cried myself to sleep after reading this. There was so much emotion going on with Sky and I was affected. And Dean got this strange pull that made me want to cry on his shoulders and comfort him. Sky and her constant running may be alluded to her past which she had completely forgotten about. Dean served as her anchor in the trying times. Six or Seven Marie, (gosh, I love both her names!) was a quirky personality, someone I would love to call my BFF. Too bad, there wasn’t much story about Leslie, but her demise was really a big impact to the whole gang.
Colleen Hoover is now one of my favorite authors. Hopeless made me breathless and sleepless in one night alone. Hopeless left me speechless after reading it. And Hopeless just made me a helpless romantic. Can’t wait to read Losing Hope!
Title: Always The Last to Know
Author: Crystal Bowling
Summary from Goodreads:
Wearing a Maid of Honor dress that very well may cause the South to want to rise again, Jess Reynolds is prepared to walk down the aisle at her best friend’s wedding. It’s just that things keep getting in the way, like a sex-crazed coworker, an annoying brother-of-the-bride, and a handsome and horribly charming friend posing as the Best Man. As it turns out, Jess might just be the last one to know everything, including the workings of her own heart.
I got this ebook for free from amazon and I must say, for something free like this, I had fun time reading it.
Oh, who am I kidding? I actually enjoyed reading this wonderful mix of romance and comedy!
Jessica Reynolds is bestfriends with Carla Callahan who was going to get married to Evan Winters. I’d say that Carla is some kind of a bridezilla who wanted everything organized, wanted to be in control of everything. But she is definitely a great dear friend to Jess.
On the other hand, Jess had been tasked to do the duties of a Maid of Honor and make sure that the groom will not get cold feet, before the wedding bells ring.
Sometime before this wedding took place, Jess met Matt Mancini, a delectable Italian guy who was not only buffed and gorgeous, but could also cook. A man who could literally make the ladies wag their tongue and drool. Could he be the One Jess has been destined to marry?
But what about her BFF’s brother? Jess and Riley Callahan had grown up together, had known each other through the years, and even had the same taste in music. Yet, they always ended up frogging or strangling each other or quarrelling over petty things. Then one day, he asked her to live with him. What’s up with that?
Actually, the story of Jess and her date to her bestfriend’s wedding was a bit predictable. The signs that she might be in love were very obvious, but then she was oblivious to the fact that the guy loved her back. It was only a matter of time before she realized that she was the last to know about her feeling, hence the title.
Although I knew that Jess and her lover boy would end up together, I continued reading the story because I didn’t want to let go of the giddy feeling I was experiencing while knowing that sooner or later, Jess would finally come to her senses, thanks to her co-worker’s crazed & sex-infested mind.
This is surprisingly a very interesting book. It has funny aspects, as I certainly found myself laughing at several occasions. The writing was not hard on the eyes and I liked that it was based in Jess’ perspective, which was kind of easy to relate with. There’s also the wedding that I looked forward to because I was curious how the bride would react when his groom suddenly got cold feet.
I liked Jessica’s incoherent mumblings and smart ass remarks. The personalities of the other characters were not fully developed but it didn’t matter a lot to me since my focus was on Jess.
Overall, I am glad to have read this funny and quirky story. Recommended for your summer beach read. Expect lots of laughter and cringe-worthy scenes, in the most fashionably giggly fun way. 4 stars for author Crystal Bowling for successfully keeping me entertained. ****

Currently Reading: A Walk To Remember
One of my favorite love stories of all time. The title itself means the long walk to the altar, the walk that was meant for Jamie Sullivan, the walk that she and Landon would always remember.
Truth is, I have already read this novel more than five years ago. But since this is the wedding month and I kind of missed Nicholas Sparks, I decided to read A Walk to Remember one more time.
Recently Finished Reading:

A Wedding Story by Dee Tenorio
Always the Last To Know by Crystal Bowling
Married By Mistake by Abby Gaines

Title: Writing To Heal
Author: Lee Gliddon
Kindle edition, .mobi version
A tale of true love that will echo through the ages.
This is perhaps one of the most gripping Peter And Wendy love story ever told. And may also be the saddest I have ever read. No, Peter Pan does not wear green tights and hat in this tale, but he sure had darling Wendy by his side. Nevertheless, Writing To Heal is a short story that put a smile on my face and captured my heart.
The short story starts off with Peter narrating his tale after his therapist told him to write what he feels. Peter pours his heart out as he recounts the events that happened in his past, his family, his passion for the arts and his chance meeting with his future wife, Wendy.
Peter meets Wendy for the first time in college and he was dumbstruck by her beauty. An artist that he was, he drawn her on paper. A clumsy attempt to talk to her caused Peter to drop his drawing, right at Wendy’s feet. That scene alone made me smile.
A “you-and-me-against-the-world” kind of story blossoms between Peter and Wendy. A college love affair soon catapults into marriage and family romance. Until a tragedy strikes one day.
I didn’t prepare any tissue nor hanky when I read this story. It was already way past my bedtime when I heard myself sobbing and felt my heart aching after I learned about Peter’s predicament. I can only imagine the pain that he has gone through. Although this is just a work of fiction, I was able to emphatize with the lead character and hoped that time could heal his wound. To quote Gliddon’s tweet: “it is an emotional journey, go with the journey wherever it takes u”.
Highly recommended read for everyone who loves, have loved and never afraid to love again. Here’s my 5 ***** rating for you, Mr. Lee Gliddon, writer-extraordinaire.
